Just read this article in The Guardian http://www.theguardian.com/sustainable-business/southwest-airlines-upcycle-leather-seats-aeroplane-bags-shoes-balls?CMP=twt_gu and thought what a wonderful basis for an activity to use when teaching business to embed sustainability.
Give the scenario here “you own an airline and during a refit of your aircraft you find yourself with x amount of leather seat covers how do you dispose of them/what do you do with them?”
Great for small group work, great for looking at clawing back revenue from waste or for looking at investment appraisal and increasing residual value, great for designing a poster presentation to deliver to the class ticking embedding of functional skills and employability boxes in a meaningful and engaging way.
It could be easily differentiated to hit various levels of learning and appeal to different learning styles.
I’ll work something up later to stick in the resource bank. Articles like this really get my creative educator’s juices flowing.
